Surely your VDO electronic speedo is attached to the transmission thru
the OEM cable attachment point. So why not add a cable to move the VDO
Sensor away from the transmission & incorporate the Pulse generator.
Another way to get the pulses needed for the speed control is to add
magnets to the drive shaft (the old method before the Pulse generator).
It would be a shame to let the existence of an aftermarket speedo limit
installation of a Cruise Control Unit.
