Ok, broke down and went tire shopping over weekend. Bridgestone 265's
quoted at $165.00 each plus spin balance of $15 per tire on the Hoffman
machine. Single mounting only on the balancer. This seems very high as
compared to what some of you paid. This was at the Firestone store.
What is a fair price for this tire. NTB was no help at all as the
person behind the counter was about 25 and about the same wattage
upstairs. They were not able to give me a "firm" price.

Any suggestions?

Marcus

Marcus,
Yes, that does seem a bit high, pricing should huvver around 130.00.
But thare are price differences throughout the country based on impact
fees, old tire disposal, etc. Bottom line is price as well as service.
Is the dealer close to your home. If there is a problem with a tire,
are they reputable enough to take care of you. Do they know what they
are doing? That's worth something.

All things considered, you may still opt to buy there, check around
though, other dealers have availability of Bridgestone- it is not a
proppriatary line of tires.

Well, FWIW I paid $110 per tire for my 265's at NTB. I had already
negotiated the price of the Alcoa's and told him I wanted the tires for
$110. No problem. BTW, I didn't need to show them a quote or an ad to
get the price on either the wheels or the tires. NTB(in my experience)
seems more intent on matching someone else's price than setting their
own.

If you want, I'll fax you a copy of my invoice to use against the
dim-bulb counter guy.
