Thanks Mark,
I'll replace the suspect capacitor as You suggest first. When we
installed the used one, we got a couple of days of what we thought was
normal operation WITH the wires all connected.

>For most sealed compressors, if you "remove the wire which we "THINK" >is from the compressor overload switch" it shouldn't run at all, since >this is a series circuit.
The "WE THINK" may be the problem here. Actually I really don't know
what that wire is for. The unit runs fine without the wire connected,
but cuts out with it properly connected.

> "The compressor actually gets quite cold in operation. Is this >normal?" No. It should be warm (or hot) rather than cold, depending on >your local temperature. There may be some residual 'chill' on the >suction (low pressure) line, but the compressor probably isn't running >long enough to get up to temperature, so it seems 'cold'.
It has been running a couple of hours now with the wire disconnected. It
is cold enough inside the coach to kill hogs. Ambient here is about 85.
Compressor case feels to be less than 70.

Would I be gaining anything to replace the relay at the same time as I
replace the capacitor?(with a NEW capacitor this time!)
Thanks again, Tim
