David Greenberg...........I know you're out of town flying your Lear jet to
sunny Spain or the Bahamas, but you'll probably read this when you get
back...... I'm on the Oregon coast. Lots of tourists and motorhomes going
through. Also lots of log trucks and chip trucks. Today I heard a trucker
politely chastise a lady in a motorhome about using the "working" channel
17. I had to agree with him as these guys do use the channel for getting
their stuff done. Motorhomes park in front of my driveshaft shop all the
time so they can walk the one block to see the town. I ask them what
channel they're using and they use every channel you can name. I've seen
about 8 GMC's this summer and tried to reach them on 12, 14 and 17 without
any results. I know we've hit on this before, but as I know you're one of
the wheels on the FMCA, it seems that motorhome folks can come up with
their own channel. If the truckers can have 17, why can't FMCA state in
their publication that channel X is now the official motorhome channel.
Once this is done, word will get around fast. What do the rest of you think?
Is this worth thinking about further? Huh?.........Jim Davis

Jim, very good idea CH 27? SSB's & Hams can agree I hope. Any agreed upon Ch
would be good. I did an R&D project on driveshaft automated balancers in MI
recently and am wondering how far into it you get? picksam

It may be one thing to designate a channel (which GMCMI already has) but
you can't enforce it. People use whatever channel they want, no matter
what suggestions you may want to make.

Sure they can use whatever channel they want to, but not if they want to
listen to what is going on! If everyone marked the channel on their coach
that they monitor pretty soon it would become the standard.

Jim: I had the same problem traveling from Upper Michigan down to Florida.
Tried all channels below 24 with no luck when I saw a GMC. Once I was
traveling in lower Michigan and saw 3 GMC's heading north. I was on the
over pass when they saw me subsequently they contacted me on channel 19.
Can't remember what channel they told to go to but it was nice to talk to
them. Finally met up with them further north.
Excellent idea to have a channel dedicated for motorhomes.
