I'm also about ready to tear the old, original carpeting out of my 76 Palm
Beach. I pulled up a little and it is stapled down without a pad. Have any
of you guys working on your carpeting figured out how to handle the lift up
door to the engine? I've seen people make the carpet on the door larger
than the door so it overlaps to the left and right. What are you thinking
about doing

Robert I had new carpet installed in my 78 Kingsley and they used short pin
tack strip with pad installed and stapled to floor with the carpet
stretched over that. They then hammered the pins down so they would not
protrude through the pile face.
