I used Carfax once to check out the history for a Ford Ranger pickup my dad
bought in Florida last year. He thought it was low mileage, one owner, and
had spent its entire life in Florida. I found out through Carfax that the
vehicle odometer had turned over once, was originally from New Jersey and
had spent most of the time there, and then gone through several owners
before my dad bought it in Florida. I hated to break that news to him, but
he felt better knowing all the facts.
I don't think Carfax goes back far enough to be of any use for the GMCs, but
I know I'll use it again when the need arises.
