Can't get it out of park.

Hello,

I haven't moved the poor old thing in several months and when I tried this
morning, the lever would not come out of park. I think it's always been a
little tricky, but with a little wiggling around it would pop out. This
time it won't budge.

Any ideas?

Look at linkage outside under driver side hatch. Seen thing fall and get in way. Also turn steering wheel hard, make sure wheel lock is not holding
it.

This sounds silly, but lot of time the cable jams up. Get under it and
disconnect the cable and move the lever.
We carry new cables in stock.

Chock the wheels and block the frame before you get under it. Otherwise, if a torsion bar picks that time to strip its socket, or you knock it into
neutral and it rolls over you, the beneficiaries of your life insurance will have money instead of you.

Steve,
Is the coach parked on a slight slope? The weight of the coach may be resting on the parking pawl. Block the rear wheels in BOTH directions, and jack
the front end up slightly (CAREFULLY) to get the pressure off of the parking pawl. Then it will shift(after you put it back down). Always use wheel
chocks when parking on a non-level surface. Let the coach rest against the chocks before you put it in park. JWID

Once I finally got under it and disconnected the cable on both ends, the
problem was obvious. The cable is frozen solid.

I'll be calling Jim K in the morning.

Stick a spray straw under the bellows up top as far as possible and spray some good penetrating oil in there. Gravity wiil feed it down the conduit.
Replace at leisure.

Besides oiling the top, it is the bottom end of the cable that rusts and seizes. So besides spraying from the top end, disconnect both cable on both
ends and push the cable all the way to the bottom. Then spray the bottom inside the boot with spray anti-seize and work the cable in and out a few
times.
