I was cruisin along just fine, installing Cinnabar parking brake cable
using the pulleys I got from McMaster Carr. The last rear hub I pulled
off was scored about 1/4" deep in two slots. One grove I could see
through when I placed a work light inside. Good thing I caught it! The
other three were really in nice shape. I guess I need a set of brake
pads.
Q - Where do I get a new brake drum? Is it available locally or is it
back to Cinnabar?
I also noticed that the when I pulled up on one of the wheels, the shock
was non-existant. Little or no resistance, rocking up and down. I
assume that this is not normal.
Q -What do people suggest as an inexpensive shock? NAPA, Gateway, Caspro
etc.
The good news is that I re-sealed all cracked caulking around the
wheelwell, patched the mouse transit door in the drivers side wheel
well, cleaned, preped and Por-15 (rust proofed) both rails, Repacked all
bearings, cleaned and painted all the metal surfaces, fixed a leaky air
hose, undercoated the wheel well, installed a new bathroom fan,
installed a Fantastic vent (really cool automatic closer unit), repaired
and sealed all clearance lights, installed four new speakers, installed
an auxilliary fuse panel in the glove box and installed the cockpit
headliner. All this in an evening and a day. If I could still walk, I
would do more.
Julie came back from some errands and asked me why I hadn't got much
done. I still love her.
