In answer to Alan, of all the brake lining I tested raybestos was one of
the worst! [on a
GMC ]

Jim,
Raybestos had some very apparent problems in the not too distant past as
far as I (and my local brake shop) are concerned. My local NAPA quit
handling their linings and pads until they acted on the problem.
I became aware of the problem when I installed disk brakes on a '57
Chevy I was working on. It would stop once fairly well, then after that
it was like I had no fronts at all. Then the same results on an El
Camino. I replaced the pads with the cheapest I could find at Chief and
both were stopping like new cars after that. I have been told by NAPA
that Raybestos has improved their product.
