"We have a 20" piece of 3/4" threaded rod w/ washers and nuts to use in
case of a "blown air bag" emergency. Before we buy a "hook" to be able
to
lift the coach enough with my bottle jack to install it, I need to know
how
much height will be available for the bottle jack with the coach
bottomed
out. I'm not sure my jack collapses far enough. Has anyone made this
measurement?"

Dave,
I use a "hook" and a 6 ton bottle jack. Napa (and probably others as
well) sells a US made 6-ton that is low profile. With the emergency
threaded rod you just described you should be able to get enough
clearance to remove the bad bag, insert the threaded rod & then run the
nuts out til you get the height you need to travel on.
I carry two of these jacks, one subs as jack stand (emergency use only)
in case I have to remove the one under the hook to place a block under
it for additional height. While not the best practice in the world you
can support these coaches directly under the rear crossmember/frame
intersection. Again, we're talking emergency situations here.
The low profile jacks collapse enough to get under a coach with a blown
bag using the" hook" I've also used the ""hooks" (I have two of them)
to level the coach in some situations where there isn't enough travel in
the air suspension to do the job.
HTH,
Steve
