Bogie swing arm locating pins

GMCers,

I am in the process of doing a bogie control arm mounting pin
and associated bushing replacement on our 76 Glenbrook.

The bushings in the control arm were badly worn and as a result
of this, several of the locating pins were sheared off.

These are the three locating pins that are mounted into the ends of the control
arm that the thrust washer fits onto.

Does anyone out here have a replacemnt part number for these little pins?

Any help would be appreciated.

Tally to kanotamato at applied. He has the reaming too as well which you
will need to size the bushings.

I've been in contact with JimK about this issue. Bought the kit
from him. I have the reaming tool and am at the point to ream the
installed bushings.

These locating/alignment pins have to be something readily available, I've
drilled out a couple of the sheared pins already.

I suppose I could drive a finishing nail in the hole and snip it off.

But I thought that there would be something at the parts store ready to install.

You really don’t need the locating pins. The flat bushings do not need to remain stationary.

Larry,

It was in '98 that I last looked at those pins & I've slept SEVERAL times
since then, so I don't recall what they look like. But, if I were hunting
something like that, I'd probably go, as I so often do, to McMaster.com and
search for "pins". You'll find a wide assortment available. If my
experience is any indication, they may have already shipped them to
you...at least that's how my deliveries usually work.

I grind the rolled pins flush with the bogie forging. The new thrust
washers don't come with holes, and they really don't need to remain
stationary. Don't ream those new bushings any more than it takes to install
the bogie pins.

FWIW, Looking at the photo JP posted, I believe these are called "roll pins", and are a fairly common hardware item. OTOH, if Emery says you don't
need them, I believe him.

Richard, you are real close. "Rolled Pins" is their precise name, but they
are often times referred to as "roll pins". High quality ones are made of
spring steel, and are quite hard and difficult to drill with conventional
high speed drill bits. That is why I just grind them off. As do many others
who work on these bogie arms.
