Earlier this week a GMCnetter posted his dismay at the apparent
unintended activation of the "Wet Belly Button" feature of the OEM
bathroom faucet, whereupon any time the faucet was turned on, a stream
of water would spout from the device, striking the unsuspecting operator
in the naval region. As part of my ongoing plumbing adventure that I
optomistically term a "repair", I pulled the bathroom faucet out of my
coach and disassembled it tonight.
I noticed several failure modes that could lead to the activation of the
WBB. The diverter has three small "O" rings, the loss of either of two
of them would cause the assembly to leak. Also, the diverter is held in
place by a small screw which goes all the way thru to the faucet
outlet. If this screw has fallen out, then water would probaby squirt
from that point. I can't identify the screw size, but it's the same
thread and diameter as the screws that hold the faucet handles on.
The faucet itself is approx. 2 pounds of chrome plated solid brass.
Probably much nicer than anything you could replace it with these days
if it's salvagable. The only identifying marks I saw was an elongated
diamond with the letters INBRACO inscribed within. Anyone have a clue
who this is?
