I see a notation that says you need a Ball Joint Puller. Is this similar
to the OTC 927? Or all

I saw how easy it was to use a ball joint puller & bought one from JSC
Corp for $59.00. It's the same one you see pictured in the GMC tech
manual. The PN is 7503SP, made by OTC or SPX or whoever. It is listed
as a tie tod remover. (Same tool.) I have always disliked using a
pickle fork because it seems like every other time I do, I ruin the
boot.
