Doc:
Why would you not call Zip Dee @1-800-338-2378 and get the correct
replacement you need?
Zip Dee has dealers all over the country and they have many colors avil. The
biggest thing is they know all about the GMC. I don't own stock or anything
else to do with Zip Dee just think they have a great product and have given
us great service!

Subject: GMC: Awning 2 surprises

Awnings 2 surprises

I've had my 23-ft Crestmont for 3 years. (I love it) It had a zip-dee
awning
and in June 99 a gust of wind tore the fabric. My insurance assured me
they'd cover the cost of replacement.
Camping World (CW) was having a sale, with $ 5.00 installation. CW didn't
carry Zip-Dee products, but suggested a generic type. CW insisted I come in
to have measurements (especially the bead size) to get an exact size.
Surprise # 1 When I returned (90-mile drive) I was informed that the generic
bead sizes available did not fit my old groove. CW advised I obtain new
support arms (special order for GMC) and a new A&E awning. (This limited my
choice to the basic model, as I was warned that the TwoStep or metal
Weathershield were inappropriate because of GMC door interference
Surprise # 2 I returned (90 miles) when CW had an appointment. CW happened
to have the special GMC arms available, as they were unclaimed from another
customer.) {Interestingly this new apparatus fabric did fit into the old
bead groove). Unfortunately, the instillation was unsuccessful, as the
special curved GMC arms do not fit all GMC's. (They said)
Yesterday CW refunded my deposits. CW courteously suggested I try for a
replacement awning for a 23-ft GMC elsewhere. (At the bottom of each page
of
the CW booklet are the words "Satisfaction Guaranteed" Actually I felt they
did try-just lack training and familiarity with their products)
