Auto" vs "Hold

Chuck,

I got out my '76 Transmode Electro Level I manual and it clearly states to
run the system on "AUTO" for 5 minutes, then switch to "HOLD". That's what
we do, and haven't had any problems. If the system is pretty tight, the
only reason to run in "AUTO" would be to insure against damage if the
system were to develope a good leak while under way. This could cause one
or both sides to leak down pretty far before you would notice. If the
system is not leaking, the compressor should RARELY come on while under
way, and leaving it in "AUTO" would provide some protection against leak
down.

Remember, these coaches were engineered to be people haulers, and thus
would need "AUTO" adjustment for frequent major weight shifts. Unless
you're shifting weight around while under way, or feel you need the
protection agaainst leak down, run it in "HOLD".

Ours has a couple slow leaks that nobody has been able to find. One leak
causes the left side to leak down all the way over a period af 4 or 5 days
(unless we're using the suspension supports). For this leak, we run in
"AUTO" for the first 5 minutes, then switch to "HOLD".

The other leak is somewhere between the compressor and the pressure switch
(not the schrader valve on the wet tank, probably the switch). Even when we
run in "HOLD", the compressor will come on every 4 or 5 minutes for 30 - 45
seconds.

Wish I could find someone local who could find/fix leaks without taking
many hours @ $50 per hour to do it. Hope my leaks stay small.

Not sure what all this rambling means, but hope I've said something that
helps you make the right choice of settings.

ps: Can some one tell me the difference between Electro Level I, and II?
