Sandy and all --

I have had so many things going on that I haven't given this project the
time it needs or deserves. My apologies.

I assigned the work that needs to be done, then we got some 'paying' jobs
that had a tighter deadline, leaving little time left over. The good news
is that our Internet business has been very successful. The bad news is that
our Internet business has been very successful. My overall work environment
is suffering from that almost-end-of-winter malaise and discontent that
affects the human condition and kills our productivity at this time of the
year.

I recently added a new external contractor for web development. I'll tighten
up and re-spec the project this weekend and try to get them started next
week. The artwork has been done for at least 2 weeks, but the glimpse/ht:dig
search interface, file layout and basic site build is the hold up. We hit a
few snags and progress got stalled out.

This nudge causes me to give this project a more critical review of my
approach. Perhaps it's best to deploy, then improve rather than refine then
deploy. I will approach this project from that perspective and keep you
informed of my progress.

In the meantime, we all appreciate the availability of your
grouped-by-subject compilations.

Don't feel bad. My situation isn't much better. The person that I assigned
the JAVA search engine port to had to work on several urgent paying jobs -
ones that had to be completed in a few weeks. So-searchable html took a
back seat.

If I can get the JAVA engine working for this application we'll just put it
up and get feedback. I know that it's a bit risky in that it won't always
work the way people will want, but I do want to get it running on my site.
It was originally developed to allow standalone CD searching as well as
online interactive searcing on a server. No server required for the CD
version. Just run your browser.

Hi Mark

You might want to check out the search engine on the RV-List (RV airplanes).
It is based on MajorDomo as is the GMC list. He has an on-line search
engine and there is an off-line search engine to use at home if you download
the archive files. The archive is 56MB zipped so I think most people use
the online search.

The administrators name is Matt Draille, I think he would be open to
sharing his secrets.
His homepage is at http://www.matronics.com/
The RV-List page is at http://www.matronics.com/rv-list/index.htm
Matt's e-mail address is on the home page.

The RV-List also has a Yeller pages maintained by someone else. It lists
most, if not all, the companinies and products that support the RV
airplanes.

An on-line database of all the suppliers, alternate sources, tips and
tricks, specifications, purchasing checklists, replacement part numbers,
etc., etc. would be nice. Most of this information is available on a
number of web pages but it would be nice to have in a searchable database,
perhaps with an on-line 'fill in the form' system for additions and
updates.

There is a mine of valuable information here; it would be sad to miss out on
a critical bit of infromation because you can't find it when you need it.
