I was in Eureka, CA during the last two weeks doing some work at a
power plant just south of town. While there, a co-worker introduced me to
Bert and Faye Curtis who live in the area... because he knew of our mutual
interest in Lotus...... cars......not software. I had a feeling of
surprise......yet understanding when I drove along the driveway to Bert &
Faye's fabrication shop, when among the array of Loti and other cars, were
1-3/4 GMCs. One they are refurbing and the other is being converted into a
hauler for their race cars. We talked about the design and engineering
aspects of both GMC & Lotus. Our conclusion was that similar types of
people are attracted to both. The people on the GMC NET remind me of the
Lotus folks I have met over the years. Any other dual interest GMC & Lotus
folks out there?

Several years ago we were at a historic race at Sears Point just north
of San Francisco. We had our GMC and were parked in the paddock area. I
believe we met Bert & Faye at that time. The folks we met were racing a
type 23 I believe with the number 23 that they towed with a pickup
truck. The lived in Nothern California somewhere near Eureka. They were
very interested in our GMC and we had a long talk about the design, the
towing capacity, etc. I am not sure we are talking about the same
people, but it is fun to fantasize that we had an effect on their
decision to join the fold.

Also former Austin Healey 100-6 BN-6 and too many FIATs to mention.

Ron Keeler, from now on I am going to live my life vicariously through
you. Are we having fun? I want your garage!

AH 3000 & 100-6 racing in the 60's, worked on a Lotus 7 team,
owned a 62 MGB

BUT, Now I spend my time taking care of our 73 GMC.

And if you want to see a car hauler GMC take a look at Jim Bound's office
wall, theres a nice blueprint of the Healy hauler he may be working on. :)
( will let Jim fill in the details,) but as I recall, its based on a 23 ft GMC
with 26 ft rails and a ramp to load the AH.
