I for one agree with you. But then I don't have much good to say
about Alcoa, the Multi-national hostile conglomerate that by some
perverted twist of fate ended up being the 'only show in town' for
thousands of GMC owners. My comments are based on the
personal experiences of myself as a result of the lies and bull
'droppings' handed to me by Alcoa while I was waiting for an order
of twelve wheels. If I had my way, GMCers would be encouraged
to refer to their wheels as " my aluminium wheels" as the mention
of the company gives them free advertising and they are not
deserving of such consideration !
Perhaps I digress :-)

>>> They are way too long (IMO) and cover mostly air; they are about 1 3/4" in
height, and appear way out of proportion to the rest of the wheel
components.>>>
Clearly a man with an artist's eye...proportion IS important :-)

>>>other caps are only about 1 1/2" high and have a ......Mine are stainless
steel>>
That's probably what the 'aluminium wheel' people told him. He's a
nice guy and of course he'd believe them; I used to ! (this doesn't
mean I'm a nice guy, it just means...you know what I mean :-) )

Sounds like 'Swap meet' material to me .
