Any one done any alt. modifications? Going up in size. Looking for any
helpful tips.
Heinz, how big is the alt. you are running?
Any problems encountered.
Going to 120 or 140 amps. I know I have to up some wire sizes and
possibly modify the bracket. No big deal. What I am trying to avoid is
any potential problems lurking some place I haven't figured on.

Thanks to all who have forwarded tips on the three inch muffler
install.

Darren,
I went back to a stock 100 Amp. (It nets 82 amps)
I had the 140's in the past but I believe workmanship went downhill. (They
were from an outfit in Long Beach, CA)

I ultimately decided that it'll only take a little longer to charge
batteries etc and I don't use it at idle much. That would be the only
advantage.... higher output at idle but I'm going for reliability.

I did increase wiresize, etc.
The biggest problem (using 20/20 rearward :-) is that the V-belt will not
take the increased load very well. Belt stretches, gets loose and lots of
misery. With the serpentine it might work better, but I'm extremely happy
now so I'm going to try and leave it alone (teehee).

A recap of my setup: Serpentine belt, 100 amp AC Delco reman'd alternator,
#6 wire from alternator direct to battery. 150 & 50 amp combiners to keep
all batteriesd fed. 60 amp charger when on shore/genset power.

Heinz
Terrace, BC. The best fishing hole in the NorthWest and I didn't bring a
rod.
