AFAIK, Alcoa has not changed their position on the wheel stud length.
I'm not sure that there's any real advantage as the factory studs
protrude from the Alcoa nuts - just not far enough according to Alcoa.
I changed my studs for good measure, mainly because it was obvious that
some(and therefore implied "all") had been overtorqued. As long as I
was changing them, I went with the longer studs.

It was also an excuse to buy a shop press.

the box does not say anything about longer studs being necessary. There were
no other papers packed with the wheels to indicate such.

In checking my GMC Motorhomes International Newsletters. Issue 41, page
1 has a paragraph on Alcoa wheel and stud length. The article states"
that the original lug bolt length provides sufficient threads for 100%
strength when using Alcoa wheels." The article also states, "that the
pitch diameter for a 9/16 NF thread is 0.526" of thread. The GMC studs,
Alcoa wheel & nut combination allows for 0.532" of thread, which is more
that the pitch diameter of the stud and a longer stud does not provide
more strength, it just has more threads exposed."

The only caution I would follow is checking to see if your studs have
been streached. A quick test method would be to run the nut down the
stud and if it goes down and up smoothly your studs are probably ok.
Make sure the threads are clean because dirt and scale buildup on the
studs might falsely indicate a bad stud.
