Alarm system

Neely,
Look for a toggle switch under the dash or in the pilots area somewhere. If
you find one and don't know what it is, it is probably the arm/disarm
switch.

The original owner had a burglar alarm system installed on my Eleganza II.
The previous owner said the key was gone when he bought it and he never
tried to us it. I bought a new switch and installed it, turned on key,
alarm sounds continually, will not stop until key is turned off. I have
looked but can find no brand name or any other wording. System has a small
black box mounded on fire-wall passenger side, in box is a P-C board.
Located near the box is a horn. Other than the key-operate switch located
outside over the right front wheel, this is the complete system. Anyone
familiar with such a system?? please help. Thanks

Check to see if there are extra pin switches, like the ones that turn the
dome lights on and off in your car, on the hood hatches or other door ways.
These may be rusted and shorting the system out, giving the false alarm. I
had this happen in an old Mustang I bought. Took me weeks to figure this one
out, but it was a defective pin under the hood. Good luck, Tony

Also, I've seen them advertised, though never fooled around with any, that
simply sit on the battery lead and watch for the voltage to fluctuate
slightly. They rely on the interior light coming on when a door is opened to
cause this. In this way, they don't need any other wiring or sensors. I
don't know what the arming instructions for one of these would be though. I
would assume it would just have a delay built into it so that it would arm a
few seconds after it was actuated to establish a base-line voltage. But I'm
only guessing.
