Air Bag Replacement

Chuck,
Thank you so much for your understanding. Trying to get pleasant thoughts
working. Questions. How many jack stands are required? Where are they
placed? Where are jacking points? Would you need two floor-jacks to lift
both sides at same time? Where are valves to open to let air out? At this
time my right bag seems to be working correctly. You can deflate it or
inflate it at will, but the left side will not deflate. Stays fully
inflated all time. The bags appear to be deteriorated, crumbling on the
bottom side and many hair-line cracks. From comments on the net, I sure
would not want to be out on the road and have one one them collapse. Sorry
for so many dumb questions but these come to mind. Thanks

I used one jackstand on the main frame rail at the junction point of the cross
member between the wheels. No problems encountered. 4 ton jackstand was used.
You are going to have to get the air out of the bag before you try to remove
it.(I know you knew that) You could try releasing the air by undoing the
fitting. Not recommended, but may be the only choice you have. If the air is
not coming out, it may be that your switch is dirty and is not making contact
at the dash through to the solenoid. Try wiggling the switch till you here the
solenoid click. A few second wait may be necessary for the air valve to open.
You can jack up, support and replace one side at a time. If you have a floor
jack or a bottle jack you can lift on the main frame where there is a cross
member. Hope this helps. Darren
