air bag "extenders

Hello
I have thought about getting extenders, which in turn lowers the
required air pressure, which in turn results in a "softer" ride , less
stress on the compressor, on the lines, etc.
Now, if I have a "softer" ride, don't I pay a price in decreased
stability; for example in cross winds, wouldn't my Kingsley be less
stable ?
To this point, I have abstained! I motor with a radar detector, which
tells you something of my driving habits. My opinion is to leave well
enough alone...........but there aren't a lot of us up here, I'm looking
for input, does anyone have a thought/theory I have overlooked ?
Thanks
