The Rostra Ultra Cruise II is an all electric after market unit that has
many improvements over the Vacuum Operated OEM CC. The System that I
have available consists of the Actuator Assembly, Control Unit & Pulse
generator. All necessary wiring is contained with the CC system. The
Control unit provides interface with the operator to command the
following functions: 1) off/on, 2) set speed, 3) Coast, 4) accelerate, 5)
Resume, 6) Tap Up one mph & 7) Tap down one mph. The control Unit is a
slip-On Unit for attachment to the OEM Signal Lever. The Pulse Generator
is installed in the speedometer cable in Lieu of the OEM Transducer (one
cable in from the transmission & one cable out to speedometer on dash).
Note no magnets to install on the drive shaft. Interconnecting
electrical cables are well marked for proper installation. An
installation supplement document is provided for the normal GMC Motorhome
installation. Takes about 4 hours to install (1/2 day). The Actuator
Assembly is located within the engine compartment such that the CC
Throttle cable can be attached to the carburetor.
Works great....comes with 3 year factory warranty....USA made.
Contact me off Net at simmee if additional information or
purchase is desired.
Jerry: I don't know about the VDO Electronic speedometer....if it uses a
speedometer cable connected to the transmission, then it should be
compatible.

Jerry,
I have the Rostra from Duane and it's working great. It installs neatly per
his instructions.

Jerry,
As they say, 'that depends'. Does the VDO replace the speedometer gear
inside the transmission? I believe the Rostra pulse generator can hook
directly to the transmission speedometer gear and if your VDO does the same
it can hook to the outlet side of the Rostra pulse generator. It all
depends on how the VDO hooks up to sense speed.

Bob - you sure seem to be right on this. AND - it would seem that if
the VDO doesn't replace the speedometer gear but picks up its signal
somewhere else, the Rostra pulse generator should be able to screw
onto the transmission to pick up the speed even if a line doesn't go
out of it.
