Howdy from the frozen Central Coast of California. Boy I guess we had a
real freeze here. I just got back from a short jont with the GMC and
its new heart. We went to Big Bear Lake. What a grand time the GMC
handeled wonderfully. Untill we parked at the local Elks Lodge. That
night they had a wonderful dinner and we were all settle in for the
night when at 11:30 we lost all power. It was now 4 degrees outside.
Bravo the Onan fired off immediately and boy was I happy. We ran it for
the entire night to keep our little 26 footer as warm as possible. That
along with the space heater we all were pretty nice and it was
comfortable./ We use an air purifier at the same time. The reasong for
that is we have two animals that travel with us. One Shepherd and one
Orang Barn Cat. In the morning we decided to vacate the mountain as the
water froze every where including the GMC. To my knowledge there is no
damage . We spent that night at the Elks Lodge in Palmdale. The next
day we made it to Pt Mugu a Naval Missile Base. Boy are those
accomodation high and nothing works. Sewer backed up and no electricity
and no hot water. The Commanding Officer will get his letter of
displeasure along with the one to our local Representative Congressman
Capps. Of all the military camp grounds I have been in the Navies are
the poorest. The Air Force and the Army are tight for second and the
Coast Guard are probably the best if you can find one. Any way the GMC
ran Great. 13+ miles per gallon up and down. The only problem was the
16 and 18 percent grades coming dowm. I had some very hot brakes. I
hope that I did not runin any thing there. Even putting the righ into
the L range was not enough and trying to keep it at about 10 mph was
very hard to do. Other than that no problems. I must find a way to
winterixe the water tank and fittings for winter travel. Chuck
