Tom,

I have no earthly idea how you pull these two points together. I'm
getting tired of asking you to read the same post two or three times
because you obviously don't get the point. When you make these kind of
outlandish remarks, you only give credance to those who accuse you of
fear-mongering.

Let me make it perfectly clear - I am the owner and administrator of
GMCnet. Only I have the authority to determine what is acceptable
content in this forum. The fact that I rarely exercise this authority
does not diminish it, but only demonstrates my desire to maintain loose
rein. I've often stated in this forum my desire not to micro-manage
content. Any attempt by anyone to prevent a GMC-related subject from
being brought to the table will be met sternly. This forum will not be
hijacked. Your strongly held belief regarding proper tires does not
give you the right to stop debate on this subject. If you're getting
tired of typing your beliefs, then I suggest you set up a web page and
publish them there for all to read(AAMOF, you write the article in
MSWord, email it to me and I'll post it on the Tech page of my site).
Obviously, there are some who still wish to discuss this point, and for
them the subject is not yet closed.

Please note - I DO NOT OBJECT TO YOUR STATING YOUR OPINION ON THIS
SUBJECT. IN FACT, I SUPPORT YOUR RIGHT TO CONTINUE TO DO SO. I ONLY
OBJECT TO YOUR IMPLIED ATTEMPT TO STOP DEBATE ON IT.

I know that debate on some well-worn subjects can get tiresome, but
remember - we have new members signing up all the time that probably
haven't slogged through all the archives yet. Give 'em a chance to hear
your point.

Sounds good to me. But one little paradox I've noticed over the years: time
and again I see the people who claim to be the most tolerant of others'
viewpoints are absolutely intolerant of anyone whose presentation doesn't
conform to their ideas of tolerance.

I didn't interpret Tom's post as ordering anyone to shut up. I took it that
he genuinely believes, passionately, that to use anything but an all-steel E
rated tire inflated to 80PSI cold is FOOLISH. He even said that you were
free to be a fool if you choose.

So are you saying that it's ok to present one's thoughts provided noone
takes exception? Yes, I realize he said something to the effect that he
doesn't understand why this keeps coming up when it was well researched and
well documented. But is that enough to get him accused of demanding that it
not be discussed?

I realize that in his zeal he comes across to some of you as authoritarian.
So while proclaming tolerance for all ideas, there is a tacit agreement to
except his because of this perception?

I have often been the subject of this same phenomenon myself, so maybe I'm
overly sensitive to it. I sense that Tom, like me, wants to help and is
probably amazed that a few people get there backs up. I guess I am too.
Especially when it's the same couple of people each time.
