GMCnetters,
It's been a while since my last ADMIN post, which means that you're
behaving yourselves for the most part. Two recent trends prod me
to bring up a couple of netiquette issues.
Now that our group has grown to over 150 members, the volume of traffic
has really picked up. For those subscribers that are already handling a
large amount of email, this can become a burden. Please be considerate
when replying to a post. If your reply is directed specifically to one
person and not part of an overall discussion, change the "to" address.
A good recent example is the "parking light" thread. For Marcus to post
the availability of the parts and updates on the total ordered to GMCnet
is acceptable, but it's really not necessary to tell everyone how many
you're ordering - the orders should be addressed directly to Marcus.
"Subject" headers are another well worn issue on mailing lists. If you
decide to change the direction of a thread or even narrow the discussion
down, please change the subject header. This alerts subscribers who may
have lost interest in the previous discussion that the subject has
changed.
I'm not singling anyone out here. We all need to pay attention to these
issues. Just be considerate of your fellow GMCnetters.
Thanks,
Patrick
