Adding fans to the cockpit area

I was wondering if I can wire two fans to the nearby ceiling light, or should I run a separate line to the fuse block? The fans are rated at 1.3 amps each, so it's not that much of a draw. If you have these, how did you do it? I didn't want to use the cig lighter; I want it more permanent and hidden.

I've never seen a light in that position in a GMC. But, the way to check it would be to find out what circuit it's on and what size fuse it has. The LEDs in that light don't pull enough current to even count. I'll bet you're safe to do what you want. Turn on the light and pull fuses till it goes out. That's your fuse.

Thanks Billy. I'll check it out, as soon as we're through this arctic blast we're about to get.

I bought a couple of lithium battery-powered fans from Amazon. They have a strong clip on them for mounting anywhere. They are very quiet, have multiple speeds, run for 65 hours per charge and are recharged with the same USB cable as a smartphone. Many other features. Move it to sofa, bedroom, dinette, cockpit, picnic table, beach, wherever. https://www.amazon.com/Portable-120...ix=clip+fan+lithium,aps,163&sr=8-8&th=1&psc=1

That looks really nice, thanks!

One benifit of rechargable is they can stay plugged in and recharge all the time, then the higher current is dealt with by the onboard batteries. So any circuit can recharge them, and then they can be put anywhere unplugged briefly (4-8 hours) maybe 12 hours with this model!

Wire it to the dome light and don't worry about current.

The fans in my coach only ran at full tornado speed

So I installed some speed controllers I got on that auction site from that country. It allows me to control the fan speed very well

Nice, I have the same controllers, not planning on using in cockpit but defiantly in bedroom.

I bought a couple of those as well. The mounting options are very versatile. It even has a light and a remote. Very neat

Are these needed? Does it get hot up in the cockpit or something? :) :) :)
With all the window area in the cockpit, you tend to be in a fish-bowl so yes it gets hot in there. Some people have got a treatment put on the windshields to reflect out the sun's infared rays which I hear helps quite a bit. We had the cockpit side windows tinted and a dark tint "eye-brow" put along the top of the windshield. That helped quite a bit.

The fans help as well, but since we don't have them I can't say as to how well they help.

When I had my first GMC, a '78 Kingsley, the a/c quit and the Onan was inoperable. Passing through Atlanta, it was 102F outside, and 106F inside, as I made a b-line to Sirum in Florida. I used those spray bottle fans and kept myself hydrated. Hot was an understatement.

Sorry, I meant this tongue-in-cheek :)
