Have to admit Arch I have not found anyting I could not eventually get done.
Just a matter of how long it takes. My journeys always start with a lot of
gathering of information, buying of lots of tools, talking and reading. Wife
always knows when I have a new project. Bathroom etc is crowded with books,
sometimes parts I look at(she hates that) and spending money. If nothing
else works throwing lots of money at it works (something a kin to a virgin
sacrifice). I say that because it is harder and harder to find both! Now
the GMC is the new goal and parts boxes are getting higher and higher
everyday. Sooner or later I will have to start putting everything together.
Have changed my mind several times already relative to how extensive the
work will be on the coach this winter. Have almost decided to limit it to
the mechanics this winter. complete front end, new cylinder heads, timing
chain and gears, new manifold with blocked off heat risers, thorley
headers(haven't decided yet whether to use HPC, Jethot or Swain coatings on
them), new Alcoas and tires, remove the bogies and check everything out and
paint, new macerator pump, new air system with stainless steel tank,
carpeting and blinds. Should be ready for long trip in the early summer. I
have allocated about 2 weeks to do everything.

Problem I always have is that my time table quickly becomes confused.
Started a new house 3 years (November 1995) ago and my timetable was for
completion in the early spring. I am just completing it now. Daughter is
getting very upset with me. Stopping march 1998 to work on the GMc when I
first got it did not help. Oh Well everyone just has to learn to relax.
Priorities change. Daughter and kids decided to speed house project up by
moving in with us 4 months ago. Sure moved my govenor up a couple of
notches. She doesn't know that I steal down to the garage to sit in the GMC
and pretend I am on the road. Wonderful what an imagination will do! Wife
now says that I have to complete the house before I work on the GMC anymore.

Maybe on second thought I will move out, get Mondellos 700HP engine and go
for the land speed record in the Palm Beach. Anyone have a drag shoot?

>Yes, I have been defeated by the rails. I am willing to pay some outrageous
