Arch,

You mean a replacement for standard 110 volt power supply in a regular PC?
Not sure if I'd use it. I dismantled my people 'puter. I'm shifting to a
full tower under the table with the Apple screen, keyboard and mouse
duplicated to the pilot's side. I.e. in reverse of what I had before. I
found Y connectors for keyboard and mouse and an expander for monitor so
station at table and cockpit will be fully usable in unison.

I'm doing a full tower as the space under the table is wasted anyways once a
PC is there. What I did is mount 2 10gb IDE's inside along with a DVD and
Re-Writable CD. That left me with 2 bays that are done up as removable
fast/wide SCSI drives.

Gee, I forgot to make provision for monitoring internal 'puter temp via the
AV-10. I better go fix that :-)

Looked at the site.
Interesting, but not for me. Too restrictive and they use an AMD processor.
I'm partial to the real thing.

However, a replacement 12V power supply may have some merit.

Your idea re desk is excellent. The step is a great place for a PC. A super
ride there.

I saw a 17" Panasonic LCD at the last computer show that was absolutely
superb. Prices are getting almost reasonable too :-)

Good idea indeed... and that's exactly what what I'm going to do. I'm going
to look for an indoor/outdoor that uses 2 probes (digital of course :-) and
place them inside the computer.
I'm actually not concerned about CPU heat anymore as the CPU fans controls
that (and the P2's actually shut the system down on overheat). Now we just
have to make sure the surrounding air inside the box is cool enough so that
the fan can do its work.
Only problem with me... I hate the fan noise that extra cooling fans make so
I use a powersupply with thermostatically controlled fan and 2 others on
toggle switches.

As I don't have a Walmart close by Radio Shack may have to do :-)

Thanks for the suggestion Arch.
Never even dawned on me to try that. Too easy, too obvious :-) Oh, the power
of the net.
