455 or 403

I am considering buying a 1977 Palm Beach. However, the owner is not sure
the engine is a 455 or a 403. How can one be sure which engine is installed?

I have two 403's, and they both have "403" cast in the block on the
passenger side below the exhaust manifold in numbers slightly taller than
one inch.
