OK back out on a limb again. My local Alternator man says he can
change the diodes in mine and give me 100 amp service. Is he
for real?

Yes.....but IIRC the heavy duty alternators from GM have an extra
cooling port on the backside. That's how I ID them in the boneyard so I
can use them as cores.
